Blue Sox Megan selected for GB u13 Softball

Another Leicester Blue Sox youngster has been selected to represent her country, with 10 year old Megan Rollins travelling out to Italy this week with the GB u13 Girls Fastpitch Softball team.

Megan, who has played baseball for Leicester's 'Little Sox' programme for over four years, switched to Fastpitch Softball this season and has made amazing progress travelling to London every weekend to participate in an all-girls softball league.

Her dedication hasn't gone unnoticed, and she was duly selected to represent Great Britain u13 Cubs following trials earlier this summer.

Megan and her team mates will be competing at the Massimo Romeo Youth Trophy in Collechio, Italy between 13-17 August. Their initial group games include teams from Italy, Russia and the Czech Republic.

Megan's coach at Leicester Blue Sox, Matt Crawshaw said "Megan's growth as a player and individual has been phenomenal. She already has two year's of international tournament experience under her belt with Team UK Coach Pitch Baseball and was a UK Little League Champion last year. This year she made the switch from baseball to softball and I am thrilled that she has been selected for GB u13s. Go Megan and go GB Cubs!"
